Bears! Storytime

Who doesn’t love bears?! Apparently most people love them because books about bears are in no short supply. It was seriously difficult deciding which amazing bear books to read for storytime. Ultimately, I landed with a mix of old and new.

The Little Mouse, Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear by Wood followed by a rowsing Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around (we did it a third time at Super Sonic Speed at the request of one of my favorite little guys (I always do head, shoulders, knees, and toes at super sonic speed and he thought it should carry over to other songs-good idea!)). Then on to More Bears! by Kenn Nesbitt with these handy props. Every time I held up the sign they shouted MORE BEARS!!!. Preschoolers are excellent shouters, in case you didn’t know.

Now on to Down by the Bay with printed out pictures of a bear combing her hair, snake eating chocolate cake, llama in pajamas, and more! I saved Hugless Douglas by David Melling for last since it’s just so sweet. And I love waiting until my voice is super tired to do all the voices in that one.

We ended our time with bubbles and then they all helped paint our bear cave (a big brown box) which they loved. We talked about how much some lucky bear would love to sleep in such a beautiful bear cave. Next week I’ll put bears in there for them to play with.

Until next time… happy reading!
